"The Beginning is Near" October 14, 2011

Consuming Wisdom: something we all possess, but which we may or may not make use of, affecting our daily consumer habits and choices.  As the world wakes up and is in the process of becoming occupied by awake and aware humans, still consuming on a daily basis, we can assist each other to learn, act, shop and consume more wisely than we may have in the past, and do things differently.  To make new choices, to use our dollars as votes to mold the market place into what we want, instead of the other way around, and to research and disclose what it means when you buy product A vs. product B.

Consuming wisdom ultimately will help you save money, and be healthier, in spite of what marketing campaigns may be telling you. We'll cover obvious topics like buying fair trade products, and recycling, but we'll also cover lots of topics that you may not have considered before, and share them so we all learn something and can support each other in doing it different.

My intention is to create daily "tips" about what I can do and what you can choose, or not, to do, to lean a little less heavily on mother earth and to cease or decrease participation in supporting companies and practices that may be harmful to others or to nature. In addition, I will compile the links and reference data to make it easy for you to find out more.

There are many good resources out there, and many people have done lots of good work on this subject already. Here we will gather and garner those resources and keep it simple and easy for us all to become better informed and reminded that the way we spend each dollar matters, just like the bank we chose to keep that dollar in! It is our power as consumers and it is our responsibility as residents of this planet, to do the best we can.  I will welcome your comments, your ideas and your feedback. I encourage you to share this blog with others.

Empower one another, challenge those who maximize their profits at the cost of your health or the people, plants and animals that we share this planet with. Discover simpler and cheaper ways to meet your needs and live in greater harmony!

Oh yeah, there's just one more thing.  There are products in the market place today that make me crazy nuts/mad/upset/and sick.  I have been angry at lots of companies, and have done little about it except to not buy those products and feel unheard, marginalized and victimized.  That's no good for anyone, so I have my, don't-ever-buy-this-stuff-again list, AND, what turns out to help most, is to focus on what I DO want, instead of what I don't. I don't want this blog to turn into a rant.  I  DO want to keep looking in the direction of where I want to go. I want to use common sense, and informed choices. I want to be a wise consumer. Si se puede! I hope you'll join me!
